Why doesn't God just remove, cancel out or erase sin instead of Jesus paying for it?

Doesn't God have the power to remove sin from a man without punishment? Why should Jesus die on the cross instead of just removing it?

God is a Just and Holy God. He is not a man to change standards according to convenience.

1 Samuel 2:2 - There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.

God has the power to do anything and everything. But, He did not create human beings as dolls. We are made out of God's love, for love. We have free will. None of us would want a robot that does everything you command perfectly to replace children who err and trouble us in many ways.

We disobeyed God even though we had been given the ability to obey.

God created every living thing for a purpose. They all serve their purposes. But the man who is made a little lower than the Angels and given the authority to rule over all other living things rebelled against God. Yet God, on account of His great kindness, sent His son to save us.

None other than Jesus was eligible to pay the price. Jesus was the only person who ever lived a Holy and blameless life and deserved to be the lamb for us

Titus 3:5 - Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
