Most of the Psalms contain verses of acknowledgement and adoration of who God is and His mighty acts. Remembering the greatness of God has a profound impact on the way we live our lives. Acknowledging the greatness and sovereignty of God keeps us from the unnecessary worries of this life.
1 Chronicle 29:11 - "Thine, O LORD, [is] the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all [that is] in the heaven and the earth [is thine]; yours [is] the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all".
Revelation 5:13 - And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying "Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, [be] unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever".
We can work, play, study, eat, pray, preach, teach, write and do everything we do for the glory of God. There are no compartments in Spiritual life. Since the Holy Spirit is with believers all the time, all our life is for God. Why we do what we do and for whom we work matters.
Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Colossians 3:24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
As believers, we should no more think and act like the world. The world chases after money, comfort, worldly pleasures and financial security. But, we know that this world is temporary, and our permanent treasures are in heaven. While there is nothing wrong with enjoying nice things on earth, our primary focus should be on God and eternity.
Romans 12:2 - And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Our everyday choices impact our lives to a great extent. Before we make any decision or set our priorities, we should seek God and His will for our life, rather than our selfish desires. Are we ready to give up our plan if God has a different plan?
Proverbs 16:3 - Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
No human being is exempt from pain and struggles in this life. The psalmists went through difficult circumstances yet chose to praise God with all their being, even as they expressed their emotions to God.
Psalm 42:11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? Why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Do we complain and murmur all the time for things we do not have, like the Israelites who complained after witnessing the Red Sea miracle or do we choose to give thanks even in difficult situations as Apostle Paul did?
Ephesians 5:20 - “Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
